⚠️ Important Update — New Colorado Driver’s Ed Law Starting January 1, 2027

Colorado law is changing. Beginning January 1, 2027, all drivers under age 21 must complete driver’s education before receiving a permit. Here’s what that means:

  • Ages 15–17: Must complete a 30-hour driver’s education course
  • Ages 18–20: Must complete either the 30-hour course or a 4-hour Driver Awareness class (EDAP)

                                                                        A one-day class for teens age 15½+ that includes the permit test

The Extended Driver Awareness Program (EDAP) is a state-approved, one-day classroom course for teens age 15½ and older. The 4-hour session covers safe driving principles, Colorado traffic laws, and the rules of the road. The written permit test is included and administered immediately after the class. Students should review the Colorado Driver's Handbook before attending.
