Start by passing the written permit test. If you are 15 years old, you must first complete a state-approved driver's education course. Once you have your permit, you can begin behind-the-wheel training and eventually take your driving test.

It depends on your age. Teens who are 15 must complete a state-approved 30-hour course before getting their permit. Starting January 1, 2027, all drivers under 21 will be required to complete driver's education. Adults 18 and older are not currently required by law, but many choose to enroll to build confidence and prepare for the road test.

The EDAP is a 4-hour class for students age 15½ and older that covers safe driving principles and Colorado driving laws. The written permit test is included and offered immediately after the class. It's a fast, affordable path to getting your permit in a single day.

If you do not have a Colorado State ID, you must pre-register with the DMV before attending. Go to MyDMV.Colorado.gov, click "Apply for a License or ID," fill out the form, and print your Pre-Registration confirmation with your code. Bring it to class.

Yes. We are a Colorado State Certified driving school authorized to offer both the written permit test and the state driving test right here at our location. No DMV trip required.

No appointment is needed for permit or driving tests. Walk-ins are welcome. EDAP classes do require registration in advance. Driving lessons can be booked online or by calling us.

We offer instruction in English, Spanish, and Arabic. We are proud to serve students from all backgrounds and believe your language should never be a barrier to getting your license.

Yes. We partner with Denver Human Services (Chafee foster youth program), Denver Rescue Mission, Metro Caring, and Chafee Foster Families, all of whom may be able to help cover testing fees for qualifying clients. Visit our Community Partners page or call us to learn more.

Yes. You may use your own vehicle as long as you bring proof of valid registration and insurance. You can also use one of our KGI vehicles.

For the permit test, you can retest the same day for an additional $5 fee. For the driving test, retests are available for an additional cost. Our instructors provide feedback after every test to help you improve.

The timeline depends on your age and starting point. Most teens take several months. You must hold your permit for a full year (or until your 18th birthday) and log at least 50 hours of supervised driving before taking the road test. Adults can move faster since different rules apply.
